I'm considering expatriating to Thailand. Is there anyone reading this who has expatriated to Thailand long term who could talk about Thailand and different areas within the country that are better than others?

Ditto, Are you familiar with the Stickman Bangkok site? If one has time & the inclination, the reader's submissions section has tons of info interspersed through it about different areas of Thailand: www.stickmanweekly.com/StickmanReadersSubmissions.htmI guess it all depends what one wants, of course. Popular choices: Bangkok: big city living with all the pros/cons that details Pattaya: beach city 2 hrs east of Bangkok. Party central -- lots of bars, bargirls, etc. This forum has tons of info: www.pattayasecrets.comChiang Mai: Quieter, smaller city in the north. I quite liked Chiang Mai, but everyone's different. Here's one site on life in CM you might find interesting: www.retire-on-550-month.com/index.phpMore choices than this, of course, but these are 3 popular ones.

DSC,
Thanks for both sources. I've added both to my bookmarks for closer examination.

I forgot to mention another very popular spot -- Phuket.
I know less about it since I didn't go there when I was in Thailand.
I do know, however, it's one of those spots that's beautiful but over-run with expats & thus pricier now.
It's on the Stickman site and all over the Internet, though. No lack of info on Phuket.
