The Reality of the Violence Against Women Act

This week marked the fifteenth anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act, authored by the current Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden. The White House issued a statement of commemoration.
But what does it really mean? Eagle Forum has been an opponent of this act since its creation, and this week they released an important statement reaffirming their counter position. Is Eagle Forum against women? Absolutely not. Here's are some of Eagle Forum's key points from this statement you should know:
• VAWA-funded centers engage in political advocacy for feminist legislation such as the “must-arrest” and
“no drop” laws even if there is no sign of violence and even if the women doesn’t want the man arrested.
• Allows the definition of “abuse” to include things like minor insults, irritations, criticizing, ignoring the
victim’s needs, jealousy, possessiveness, and facial expressions which occur in most marriages and
relationships.
• Funds the re-education of judges and law enforcement personnel to teach them feminist stereotypes about
male abusers and female victims, how to game the system to empower women, and how to ride
roughshod over the constitutional rights of men.
Not so innocuous sounding is it? This act actually enables women in ways that are not good and beneficial for society. It's also hurtful to men. And worse, it uses $1 billion of taxpayers' money every year. This is yet another example of the victimhood mentality that has come to dominate feminism.
