I am in Argentina with my family looking for a town to live in. I went to Bariloche first because it looks nice from Google earth and I like skiing. But I am quite disappointed in the people. I see tattoos, body piercings, and other signs of cultural decay everywhere. I did not see this last year in Buenos Aires or Mendoza. I talked to a conservative looking woman from Corrientes today about this. She said that this is a new trend in Argentina and that it is more common in Bariloche, which gets many foreign tourists, than elsewhere. She recommended Mendoza and Corrientes and said to forget about Mar del Plata which is where I had planned to go next. I need suggestions for which cities to look at. Argentina is big and dragging my family throughout the country would be painful. I posted a question asking for suggestions here: baexpats.org/newcomers-forum/6061-most-traditional-city.htmlBut the answers I got were fairly worthless, as I expected. Anyone here who knows Argentina, please give me suggestions as to where to check out. My current plan is to look at cities that aren't popular with tourists, places like ParanĂ¡. Corrientes is pretty far out of the way and is a bit hot for my taste, but if anyone else recommends it, I will look. And I will look at Mendoza again, which is my first choice at this point.
