Back when I was a teenager, in the 60's, a guy and gal almost always held hands when out on a date. If not on the first date, certainly from the second forward. This even extended into marriage as I remember. Nowadays, it is very rare to see any guy and gal holding hands, single or married, when walking side by side. Boooooriiiiiing! Anyone here have any ideas as to why, other than feminism? Afraid of transmitting STD's, maybe? Is this custom still common overseas? If so, where?

IMO: At least for here in the US I feel that if both parties are not "gaining" something from each other (the me-me society in play here), the hand holding won't take place - we've become a very frigid society. What would one expect when relationships are more like "what's in it for me" before entering into it and many times co-habitating and or seeing each other as like "roommates" at best till an "upgrade" presents itself.
